The Bottom Line

Before I start with this review, I must say I've been a Diskeeper user for years. They have always created some of the best defrag software on the market.

I wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't upgraded in several versions and boy was I in for a treat!

Diskeeper 2007 is getting a full five stars from me almost completely because of the amazing "InvisiTasking" technology that allows your system to be defragmented on the fly, at all times, without degrading your system performance. I've tried it and it works.

Guide Review - Diskeeper 2007

To be honest, I'm not sure how to go about discussing my experience with Diskeeper 2007. It was a unique experience among the many I've had with this type of software over the years. The fact that you can simply install the software, configure nothing, run nothing, and check on nothing yet have your system continuously defragmented is nothing short of a revolution.

I might be exaggerating a bit, but there aren't a lot of programs that come to mind where this actually works. This is a fantastic idea that probably won't seem fantastic at all to a new user. You simply install it and it works. A "plug and play" idea at its best, I suppose.

I've installed Diskeeper 2007 on two computers. On one, I ran a manual defrag. As typical as this process was, I must say it was extremely fast - the fastest defragmentation I've ever performed on any computer. I've tried competing software on a faster PC with less files and it was slower. As unscientific of a benchmark as that was, it should tell you something.

Of course the real treat was the testing of the InvisiTasking technology on my personal computer. It's full of data, heavily used, and hasn't been defraged in months. I ran an analysis and it was heavily fragmented. For those of you familiar with fragmentation analysis - let's just say there was a whole lot of red in that graph.

Fast forward nearly a week later. I ran the analysis again and my drive had improved ten fold. It looked as though I had defragmented manually. Granted, competing software can defrag in the background too but I've never had continuous defragmentation do anything but cripple my system until now.

When it comes down to it, Diskeeper 2007 is an excellent piece of maintenance software that you really do need to invest in. Trust me, you won't wish you had gone with another program. I highly recommend Diskeeper 2007!
