The defragmentation capabilities in Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP are barely comparable to PerfectDisk 10. PerfectDisk 10 is fast and effective with a minimum footprint. That's hard to find in a program of any kind.

I highly recommend that you give Raxco PerfectDisk 10 a try if you're in the market for a defrag utility. It's an inexpensive tool that just works.

Guide Review - Raxco PerfectDisk 10

Raxco's PerfectDisk defragmentation products have always been well received and PerfectDisk 10 will be no different. My last PerfectDisk review was for version 8 and while I wouldn't call version 10 a "revolutionary" product compared to 8, it does have its noteworthy improvements.

The first thing I noticed with PerfectDisk 10 was the new user interface. It's tabbed, very much like what was introduced in Microsoft Office 2007. Personally, I found the interface in PerfectDisk 8 more intuitive but the new tabbed version in PerfectDisk 10 might be more familiar to some. Don't get me wrong, it works and makes sense, I just think the old version was easier to work with.

With PerfectDisk 10, Raxco created two major versions - a Home version and a Pro version. They're essentially identical except for the fact that the Home version does not include the ability to create reports. Considering the fact that most of us don't need fancy fragmentation reports and the Home version is 25% less expensive than the Pro version, this was a good move.

If you've never used a PerfectDisk product before, trust me that defragmentation with PerfectDisk 10 is fast. It's faster than any other defragmentation program I've tried. It doesn't overload my CPU and RAM like many utility programs sometimes do.

I've been very happily using PerfectDisk 8 now for over a year so I couldn't help write this review with an "upgrade" angle. So if you're like me and you use PerfectDisk 8 or 9 and aren't looking for reporting or Windows 7 support, I say skip this upgrade.

However, and this is a big however, if you're using a competing product or simply Microsoft's built-in defrag program, upgrade to PerfectDisk 10 now. You won't be sorry.

PerfectDisk 10 Professional is priced around $40USD and PerfectDisk 10 Home around $30USD.
