Skinning - The Unknown Gem of the Warcraft World
Skinning - The Unknown Gem of the Warcraft World
Skinning in WoW is probably one of the easiest money making professions. You find a beast, kill it, skin it, then sell it. As a result of skinning it is quiet easy to turn a small profit from your leveling sessions. However many players underestimate the ability of skinning as a money making profession. With the release of Wrath of the Lich King the skinning market has exploded with potential.
What stuff should you look for?
Borean Leather - This requires level 70+ to get. You can get this from skinning many of the beasts in northrend, however lower level mobs will only give you leather scraps where as higher levels will yield 2 to 3 pieces of leather. This is the most common thing you will find throughout your travels and if marketed correctly it really makes skinning worth it as a money making profession.
Nerubian Chitin - The absolute best spot to farm this is Scourgeholme in Icecrown. Nerubian Chitin is used primarily to craft the Frosthide Leg Armor.
Icy Dragonscales - most players go to Sholazar Basin to find this rare skin, it is used primarily for Icescale Leg Armor.
Artic Fur- is available as a drop from all mobs but it's a very rare, it drops about 1% of the time. But it can sell for high prices. Once you get an Artic Fur drop you may not want to sell it, the icon looks cool and so does the blue name, however once you do sell it you will start to realize skinning's true potential as a money making profession
To make any profession profitable you must be willing to do the work involved. Search the auction house, look at whats there and the prices connected to it. Then look for whats not there, with the simple concept of supply and demand it is very easy to turn one of the worlds most neglected professions into a powerhouse money making profession.
